American Museum & Gardens

American Museum & Gardens, Claverton, Bath, BA2 7BD. Bath and North East Somerset

The American Museum and Gardens was created by an Anglo-American couple, Dallas Pratt and John Judkyn, and opened to the public in 1961 with the ambition to showcase American decorative arts and dispel stereotypes of American culture. With stunning views over the Limpley Stoke valley, beautiful gardens and exciting galleries with a range of artwork, school visits are inspiring and motivational. They encourage learners to apply critical thinking to what they see and to connect with real objects from our history. Each visit enjoys getting to use their popular handling collection which connects pupils to real lives, stories and places. Their extensive grounds give opportunities for children to run around in the gardens, to make a noise and to exercise their bodies as well as their minds. Lunch can be eaten inside the learning rooms or outside. Toilets are right next to their spaces which makes quick loo trips really easy for our school visitors. A school trip to the American Museum & Gardens has something that will appeal to all students from outdoor spaces offering well-being to art to getting up to close unique collections and history.
