Conisbrough Castle – English Heritage

Book a visit to Conisbrough Castle and organise your day to suit your curriculum objectives. Immerse your class in the world of medieval castles as you explore the unique cylindrical keep and imagine what life would have been like for the wealthy Warenne family and the people who worked at the castle, compared to our lives today.

Discovery Visits at Coinsborough Castle

Meet the Medievals

This engaging, hands-on Discovery Visit explores the lives of the people who lives and worked at Coinsborough Castle. Pupils can enjoy a hands on experience investigating artefacts from the past, to discover what life was like in a medieval castle.

Availability: Monday to Friday during term time. Session lasts for 1 hour.

Tales from the Keep

This interactive Discovery Visit explores the magnificent Keep and Bailey and helps students understand why Coinsborough was a significant location. Using enquiry skills, students will interpret evidence and discover the function and role of the castle, including the lives of past residents.

Availability: Monday to Friday during term time. Session lasts for 1 hour.

FREE SELF-LED VISITS

You can bring your class to any of our sites entirely free of charge. We offer free entry to pre-booked schools, as well as free planning visits to help you make the most out of your day. Use our free downloadable resources to help with your planning and risk assessment.

EXPERT-LED WORKSHOPS

Award-winning and immersive Discovery Visits are available at selected sites from just £100 per session per class. Students of all ages and abilities can meet characters from the past, role-play or handle intriguing objects.
