Gilbert Whites House and Gardens offer full day workshops aimed at connecting children with the natural world through hands on learning. Their ‘Explorer Days’ are inspired by the stories and collections in their museum. Children encounter local wildlife and ecosystems through activities in their grounds as well as meeting creatures from all around the world through their museum collections. Their Antarctic Explorer days feature Antarctic creatures and explore the challenges faced by polar explorers from Scott and Shackleton to the present day. Explorer Days include ‘explorer skills’ such as map reading, orienteering and team challenges, as well as options for storytelling and art & craft. Children learn by doing and will be kept busy all day long with plenty of time spent outside exploring their beautiful gardens and meadow.
