March in the footsteps of the Roman soldiers through the fort, exploring the buildings where they lived and worked. Then learn about the life of a soldier, including the tools and weapons they used and the clothes they wore, through the objects that were excavated at the fort and are now on display in the museum.

Discovery Visits at Housesteads Roman Fort
Meet a Roman solider
Students can discover what life was life for a Roman solider stationed at Housesteads. They will get put through their paces as Roman soldiers by Roman Veteran Rufus Aelius Victor and be guided in marching and drill.
Availability: April to July: Tuesday and Wednesday during term time, September to October: Monday to Thursday. Sessions last for 1.5 hours.
Murder at the Fort: A Roman murder mystery
Two skeletons have been found buried at the fort and students must explore the possible murder suspects. In the process, they will learn about life in the Roman fort, developing discussion skills and judgements based on evidence.
Availability: March to October: Monday to Friday during term time. Sessions last 1.5 hours.
