Middleport Pottery

The last working Victorian pottery factory in the UK. A visit to Middleport Pottery is an immersive educational experience for all ages.
Learn about the world-famous ‘Model Pottery’. See the processes that revolutionised pottery production and improved working conditions in the Victorian era; the steam engine, paternoster lifts and the underground workers’ bathhouse. Discover where the firemen once stoked the kiln and how pottery was transported by canal – to destinations all over the world!

Middleport Pottery offers a range of workshop activities to choose from including, clay, printing and stories. Factory Tours can be arranged for groups in Year 4 and above, and specialist artist-led workshops are available.
