In the moot courtroom pupils will explore a contemporary case, and with the help from law students they will create, prepare and present a trial taking on the character roles.
Pupils will:
Explore the roles in a courtroom.
Prepare and enact a trial based on a real contemporary case.
Discuss and debate real sentencing options.
Learn about the law and justice system and consequences of breaking the law.
Be encouraged to use their rights and responsibilities to be become more active citizens.
Choose from a selection of courtroom workshop topics.
Their aspirational, curriculum-linked courtroom workshops at Manchester Metropolitan University, introduce pupils to higher education opportunities and practical experience of the law and justice system. The workshops are held in the brand new purpose built moot courtroom at the University.
