Key Stage 1 Workshops
Key Stage 1 – Living Long Ago
Travel back in time and discover how our lives today compare to living long ago. Learn what life was like in Tudor England through exploring the manor, handling replica objects and playing with Tudor toys and games.
Workshops included:
Tudor Dancing – Music and Dance was important in Tudor times. Have fun learning some traditional Tudor court dances.
Tudor Manor House – Explore Sulgrave Manor and find out all about the great hall, kitchen and bed chamber.
Tudor Games – Have the chance to play and explore with Tudor toys. Learn some fun Tudor games.
Tudor Posies – Enjoy making your own lavender posy to take back to school and learn about why they were needed in Tudor times.
Key Stage 1 – Bugs and Buds ( Summer Terms only)
Discover the hidden world of creepy crawlies and the wonderful world of flowers in Sulgrave Manor’s gardens. Create some art using natural materials and have a go at identifying some of Sulgrave’s plants. Using different tools and techniques, learn more about the plants and mini-beasts in our gardens.
Workshops include:
Minibeast Hunt – Explore the different habitats at Sulgrave Manor. What bugs can you find?
Minibeast Natural Art – Go on a hunt for natural materials and turn these into some great minibeast art.
Plant identifying – Use our plant identification sheets. What plants can you find in our gardens?
Key Stage 2 workshops
Key Stage 2 – Rich and Poor in Tudor England
What was it like to live at Sulgrave Manor during the 16th Century? Explore the manor and use replica objects to investigate how life was different for the Washington family and the people who served them.
Workshops included:
House Tour – How did the lives of the rich and poor differ in the Sulgrave Manor. Explore the great hall, bed chamber and kitchen and find out what happened in each room.
Additional Choice of 2:
Tudor Schooling – Find out what education was like in Tudor times. Practise writing the Tudor alphabet with quill and ink.
Tudor Fashion – Look at what fashion was like during times. Handle replica items and investigate the different uses and fabrics.
Tudor Games – Have a go at playing some of the games children and adults would have played for entertainment.
Tudor Dancing – Enjoy dancing as a class like Tudors. Learn dances done by rich and poor people from this period.

Discover the hidden world of creepy crawlies and the wonderful world of flowers in Sulgrave Manor’s gardens. Using different tools and techniques learn more about the plants and minibeasts in our gardens and plant your own seed to take back to school and watch grow.
Workshops included:
Identifying and Classifying Plants – Using identification sheets, can you spot and classify the plants we have at Sulgrave?
Minibeast Survey – Explore the different habitats we have here at Sulgrave. Locate and identify minibeasts. Which habitat has the most bugs?
Garden Sketching – Have time to explore our gardens and use sketching techniques to draw your favourite plants.
