At the Florence Nightingale Museum you will find out all about Nightingale; one of their greatest Victorians, the founder of modern nursing, a healthcare pioneer, and also discover more about her lasting legacy. You can see the lamp she carried during the Crimean War, her medicine chest, her best-seller ‘Notes on Nursing’ and also her pet owl, Athena! School groups have the opportunity for a Visit with Miss Nightingale for an interactive performance and special acitivites as they explore the museum collection.
KS1 A Visit with Miss Nightingale: Discover the story of ‘The Lady with the Lamp’, why she went to the Crimea, how she improved conditions for the soldiers and nurses and what happened as a result of her work.
The session begins with an interactive performance by the museum’s own ‘Florence Nightingale’ describing her life and work. This is then followed by self-directed activities in the museum.
Cost: £210 per class (up to 32 children)
