As a full-scale and fully operational reconstruction of Sir Francis Drake’s iconic ship. The Golden Hinde is the perfect place to visit for anyone studying the Elizabethans. Designed to complement the national curriculum, our hands-on educational programmes give students a sense of the lived experience of 16th century mariners in order to enrich their understanding of key historical events. Raise the anchor, fire the cannons and discover what life was truly like for Elizabethan seafarers.

Day Living History (3 hours) – Step back in time and get ready to set sail, as your group becomes the new crew of The Golden Hinde, experiencing life as a 16th century sailor through fully immersive costumed role-play. Overnight Living History (15 hours) – Just like the Day Living History but with the added bonus of dining with the crew and sleeping on the gun deck overnight.
