Van Gogh House London & Gallery
Hackford Road 87, London, SW9 0NB. Greater London
- This venue has passed.
Van Gogh House is the Georgian terraced house in which Vincent once lived, now a local heritage site, artist residency and arts space.
Children and young people from KS2, Year 4 upwards have the opportunity to learn about the history of Vincent Van Gogh’s time at the house, alongside other residents including a child in the 1850s who hid his toys beneath the floorboards in what would later become Van Gogh’s room.
Their primary schools visits encompass both a tour of the house and a creative workshop as standard. Children navigate the house alongside their tour guide with the help of illustrated postcards, returning to class with a blank one upon which to reflect on their visit.
There is also ample opportunity to engage with the contemporary works of art in the house and participate in creative practice themselves through an artist-designed workshop.
