Discovery Visit at Walmer Castle and Gardens

From Plot to Plate

Get hands-on in the historic kitchen garden with the gardeners and team who care for the gardens today! Understand how the garden was developed at the castle and how it works now. Through games and activities, students will explore the complete growing and harvesting process of fruits and vegetables. They’ll learn different soil types, sow seeds to take home, and find out how to identify garden produce through the seasons. Can they take on the challenge to create a plate of food, using seasonal ingredients, to impress Walmer Castle’s cook?
